Congratulations to the Redgrave Data team of Dave Lewis, Lenora Gray, and Mark Noel for winning the best paper award at the 19th International Conference on AI and Law (ICAIL2023) in Braga, Portugal! Their paper “Confidence Sequences for Evaluating One-Phase Technology-Assisted Review” examines the operational constraints faced by managers of real-world one-phase technology-assisted reviews (TAR 2.0). They then introduce the first statistical method for evaluating one-phase reviews that allows review managers complete freedom to control amount and timing of evaluation while avoiding statistical bias.
